SYNOPSIS
The Fates are cackling their bony asses off…

It’s been a year since Seth made the deal with the gods that pledged his life to them. And so far, the jobs they’ve given him have been violent and bloody–which is kind of all right with him. But now Apollo has something else in mind for Seth. He’s got to play protector while keeping his hands and fingers off, and for someone who really has a problem with restraint, this new assignment might be the most challenging yet.

Josie has no idea what this crazy hot guy’s deal might be, but it’s a good bet that his arrival means the new life she started after leaving home is about to be thrown into an Olympian-sized blender turned up to puree. Either Josie is going insane or a nightmare straight out of ancient myth is gunning for her.

But it might be the unlikely attraction simmering between her and the golden-eyed, secret-keeping Seth that may prove to be the most dangerous thing of all.

Because history has once again been flipped to repeat.

REVIEW
“When I’m with you, I don’t feel like a monster. I forget. I forget all the things I’ve done that make me not deserve this.”

It is really hard living in a world where spin-offs don't quite spin it off. The Return, unsurprisingly, isn't one of the books to fall prey to the spin-off syndrome. I actually had high expectations for this one, and it did not disappoint. JLA has once again succeeded in turning me into a pool of salty, shiny tears.

I'm warning you, this review may be a bit biased because I have loved Seth since his douchebaggery graced the pages of JLA's Covenant series. And now that Seth finally has his own book, I can finally focus on him with no Aiden or Alex in the way!

Plot: A year after giving Alex and Aiden their happily ever after and offering to be the Gods' bitch, we find Seth being of good use to Apollo by guarding someone who is very special to him—Josie Bethel, a sophomore student taking up psychology who is also a demigod whose powers are bound until they get all the demigods in one place. Seth and Josie embark on a journey of life, loss, love, and redemption.

Seth: Oh, Sethie. How I've missed you. Seth's still the same Seth I first met in the Covenant series, but he's a lot more Seth (?) and less of the Appolyon. He proved that underneath the black thermal, and those rock-hard abs hides a warm heart. His evolution truly is remarkable. From a lean green killing machine, he became what I saw, and all Seth worshippers, from the start—loving, protective, and sweet. He saw his value beyond the lives he took. He saw himself as not just the Appolyon. This is big since he believed that his worth is indirectly proportional to the lies he took.

Josie: I just love her. Josie was... Josie. She was very different from the heroines JLA previously brought to life on paper. She wasn't really the type to kick ass and be all badass in the field, but she sure was mentally strong. The life she knew literally changed in a blink of an eye and she was able to take it all in and just suck it up. She's brave, funny, and a force to be reckoned with. I also loved being in her head and reading about her jokes.

The romance: It was satisfying. Josie and Seth had great banters and they proved to be exactly what each of them needed. Josie had the heart to look beyond Seth's exterior and see him for who he truly is, bad decisions aside. Seth protected and took care of Josie to the extent of his powers. He never left her, and so did she. They were perfect. Two words: Sexual innuendo.

Ending: It wasn't a cliffhanger, no. It had the right amount of romance and promise. I can't wait to read its sequel.
