Waiting on Wednesday: The Fiery Heart by Richelle Mead

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's Waiting on Wednesday:
The Fiery Heart (Bloodlines, #4)
by Richelle Mead
Genre: Young Adult, Romance, Vampires, Fantasy
Expected Publication Date: November 19, 2013
Publisher: Razorbill

In The Indigo Spell, Sydney was torn between the Alchemist way of life and what her heart and gut were telling her to do. And in one breathtaking moment that Richelle Mead fans will never forget, she made a decision that shocked even her. . . .

But the struggle isn't over for Sydney. As she navigates the aftermath of her life-changing decision, she still finds herself pulled in too many directions at once. Her sister Zoe has arrived, and while Sydney longs to grow closer to her, there's still so much she must keep secret. Working with Marcus has changed the way she views the Alchemists, and Sydney must tread a careful path as she harnesses her profound magical ability to undermine the way of life she was raised to defend. Consumed by passion and vengeance, Sydney struggles to keep her secret life under wraps as the threat of exposure—and re-education—looms larger than ever.

Pulses will race throughout this thrilling fourth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where no secret is safe.

The gut-wrenching last words of the Indigo Spell left me begging for more! I really, really can't wait for this book because of Zoe and Sydrian. But, guess what? I've managed to wait this long and you know what they say about patient people: Good things come to those who wait. So, until then, you can find me waiting for this book.

The explosive finale to Marie Lu’s New York Times bestselling LEGEND trilogy—perfect for fans of THE HUNGER GAMES and DIVERGENT!

He is a Legend.

Who will be Champion?

June and Day have sacrificed so much for the people of the Republic—and each other—and now their country is on the brink of a new existence. June is back in the good graces of the Republic, working within the government’s elite circles as Princeps Elect while Day has been assigned a high level military position. But neither could have predicted the circumstances that will reunite them once again. Just when a peace treaty is imminent, a plague outbreak causes panic in the Colonies, and war threatens the Republic’s border cities. This new strain of plague is deadlier than ever, and June is the only one who knows the key to her country’s defense. But saving the lives of thousands will mean asking the one she loves to give up everything he has. With heart-pounding action and suspense,
Marie Lu’s bestselling trilogy draws to a stunning conclusion.

As stated above, the release date's on November 5th, which means we're only 123 hours and 4,140 minutes away from getting our hands on this explosive finale to Marie Lu's debut series, Legend. I have been waiting and waiting and waiting for a long time for this book to be released the second I finished Legend's second installment, Prodigy. I mean, I was surprised that I was able to wait this long because (if you have read Prodigy, you'll be nodding with me) Prodigy's ending is one of the most gut-wrenching endings I have read this year!

I wouldn't want to devour this book in one sitting, but I don't know if my hold on myself's that great, so I might, but I really, really don't want to! As much as possible, I would like to cherish each and every moment I have left with these amazing characters because I don't want them to become a distant memory from my teenage years!

About the Author:

I write young adult novels, and have a special love for dystopian books. Ironically, I was born in 1984. I like food, fighter jets, afternoon tea, happy people, electronics, the interwebz, cupcakes, pianos, bright colors, rain, Christmas lights, sketches, animation, dogs, farmers' markets, video games, and of course, books. I suck at working out. I also get lost very easily, but am a halfway decent driver. At least, I like to think so. :)

I left Beijing for the States in 1989 and went off to college at the University of Southern California. California weather sweet-talked me into sticking around, so I'm currently in Pasadena with my boyfriend, two Pembroke Welsh Corgis, and a chihuahua mix. In my past life, I was an art director in the video game industry, but now I write full-time.

Waiting on Wednesday: Dreams of Gods & Monsters By Laini Taylor

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's Waiting on Wednesday:

Dreams of Gods & Monsters (Daughter of Smoke and Bone #3)
by Laini Taylor
Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal, Fantasy, Romance
Expected Publication Date: April 8, 2014
Publisher: Little, Brown & Company

By way of a staggering deception, Karou has taken control of the chimaera rebellion and is intent on steering its course away from dead-end vengeance. The future rests on her, if there can even be a future for the chimaera in war-ravaged Eretz.

Common enemy, common cause.

When Jael's brutal seraph army trespasses into the human world, the unthinkable becomes essential, and Karou and Akiva must ally their enemy armies against the threat. It is a twisted version of their long-ago dream, and they begin to hope that it might forge a way forward for their people.

And, perhaps, for themselves. Toward a new way of living, and maybe even love.

But there are bigger threats than Jael in the offing. A vicious queen is hunting Akiva, and, in the skies of Eretz ... something is happening. Massive stains are spreading like bruises from horizon to horizon; the great winged stormhunters are gathering as if summoned, ceaselessly circling, and a deep sense of wrong pervades the world.

What power can bruise the sky?

From the streets of Rome to the caves of the Kirin and beyond, humans, chimaera and seraphim will fight, strive, love, and die in an epic theater that transcends good and evil, right and wrong, friend and enemy.

At the very barriers of space and time, what do gods and monsters dream of? And does anything else matter?

I don't know about you, but I absolutely cannot wait for Dreams of Gods & Monsters! I've been very eager to get my hands on it since the very second I've finished the second book, Days of Blood & Starlight. The only thing stopping me is the fact that it hasn't been released yet. As you can see, the expected publication is not tomorrow, but April 8, 2014.

Creys! Why can't it be April 8, 2014 tomorrow? Hopefully this book would be longer than its predecessors since it's the last book in the series and I would want to spend every moment that I can with Karou and Akiva (mostly with Akiva, actually *evil laugh*). Anyway, that's it for this week's Waiting on Wednesday! :-)

About the Author:
Hi there! I'm a writer of fantasy books for young people, but my books can be enjoyed by adults as well. My 'Dreamdark' books, Blackbringer (2007) and Silksinger (2009) are about faeries -- not dainty little flowery things, but warrior-faeries who battle devils. My first young adult book, Lips Touch, is a finalist for the 2009 National Book Award! It's creepy, sensual supernatural romance. . . about kissing. I am also an artist with a licensed gift product line called "Laini's Ladies."
